“People who are serious with inner life prefer simple appearance”. The cultural concept of an enterprise is similar to the life concept of a person. The Zhimei R & D Center is a member of Ribo Group. Refining technology is the simplest and most serious intention in the process of “doing things right”. The whole space utilizes the most common materials, such as blue bricks, terrazzo, plain cement and timber, aiming to pursue the equilibrium between beauty and simplicity. This space is expressed by the appropriate proportional relationship and the pragmatism-centered principle, so that people in the space can work with a calm and practical attitude.
Space design philosophy:
The primary space is a relatively enclosed long and narrow structure with no courtyard. How to relieve the anxiety of people in such space? This is a practical problem that the whole design team has to solve. Therefore, the design philosophy falls on “how to allow the space to breath”: By minimizing the use of solid walls as means of partition, substitute solid walls with wooden grilling and transparent glass, and integrate flexible window shapes to allow both open and enclosing functional needs which enables the space the breath visually. By creating naturalistic atmosphere and adding cultural elements in public areas, we hereby allowing the space to breath emotionally.
Three wooden square boxes which scatter around randomly enclosed a natural courtyard with the frontal area . The lifestyle in a courtyard usually has rich stories and emotional connections. Nature, neighbor and people fuse into each other’s life and creating a common piece of memory.
It emphasizes the concept of “place”. Contents can be added conveniently into the versatile, open and mobile office space to meet different office demands and provide a composite space configuration. With the convenient and relaxed environment, trendy but cultivated atmosphere, we have built an office space capable of constant creativity stimulation.

Visual space in the Beijing Garden Art Park is a “black” building which consists of four floors and integrates multiple areas of different functions. The first floor is the visual and taste experiencing space. The second floor is an independent book store. The third floor is a studio. The fourth floor is the creativity incubation region. Visual transfer and space flow are formed among different regions through openings on the floor, so that different floors becomes interactive with each other. The accessible dynamic and visual relations in the space are realized by utilizing different scales of void structures.
In the first floor of visual and taste experience, there’s a large area of interface and space for different exhibitions and activities. Roof of the first floor has a visual connection with the second floor, forming a visual relation. Some of the stairs from the first floor to the second floor are guided by a slope in the beginning, and they are the starting point of indoor walking. The first floor is an experimental space that is open to all creative ideas, including visual, taste, touching and even intuitive ideas, and it is always ready for the next show.
In view of the building space, the skylight introduces natural light into indoor space. Lights are expressed as time goes on and produce projections on objects, leaving traces on structure and surface. Stairs and adjacent regions form an interior courtyard of the whole space. People enter the bookstore along natural lights and aromas of coffee. In this space full of ancient books, modern books in foreign languages, European classical copperplate etching and some ancient works, people seems to make multi-dimensional dialogue with time and space.
The second and third floors are connected by a silver spiraling. This silver spiraling brings a metallic fantasy to the simple, standard and practical structure which has thethick sense of concrete. Such space experience represents the “Silver Spaceship” in Adams’ Life, Universe and Everything: “It lands slowly in the warm night breeze like a relieved ballet of technology.”
VISION office is on the top floor of the whole building. It is closely related with an open outdoor terrace. Meanwhile, different black textures present rich expressions on different interfaces upon the embrace of natural lights, which may change with time.
The folding steel plated stairs run through the whole space and become a line from illusion to reality and from one region to the next ------ gallery or taste experience space, book store and studio. The space and time are used fully by versatile circulation design which facilitates the indoor journey.

Your world might be small, you may have limited acquaintance, travelling places and life experiences. However, you have good vision, bright colors, happy experiences and you love to travel in unconstrained imaginations.
Every child is a philosopher, poet and artist. The spiritual world of children is beautiful, pure and irreversible. They judge beauty with the most essential cognitions and observe the world from their unique perspectives. We all had childhood, but they ultimately end. In the eyes of a child, a clothing shop might be not a clothing shop.
“I can draw pictures as good as Raphael when I was 14 years old and I learned to draw like a child since then.” ------- Picasso
LITTLE SPACE is an international collection store which is a member of Yaying Group and focuses on children lifestyle. The first shop of LITTLE SPACE was opened in Heng Lung Square, the fashion landmark in Shanghai. Aishe’er design aims to create a pleasant children shopping space full of imaginations. The overall design is based on children’s angle of view and we “reduce” all visions like Benjiamin Button. All of our designs are based on perspectives of children and exhibit a “gallery” which is the “secondary creation” by a naughty child, guiding them to a fascinating journey.
All key elements in traditional business space design, such as seriousness and symmetry, are abandoned. The whole space is covered by grayish pink, which describes the joy of children from wall painting. Props in appropriate proportion of children, including coat hangers, wardrobes and even mirrors, are just like lines drawn by a child with a paintbrush. All decorations are simple, abstract and beautiful in view of children’s heights and view angles. Common daily objects are not designed in the normal proportion and shapes, everything is like a dream full of childhood.
All objects in the shop are designed without sharp edges for safety reasons. They also reflect the inherent softness and warmth of children. Regions for boys’ wear and girls’ wear are divided by colors. The region of boys’ wear is painted in light gray, which represents infinite imaginations. The region of girls’ wear is painted in pink, which reflects the love of childhood.

If the contradiction between reality and future is the art that artists want to portray, the ambiguous philosophical line between today and the future is the philosophy that designers want to express. Space and time never exist independently. They must start from the past and extend to the future. New forces of creativity is formed by inheriting and integrating elements in the past, now and future. In headquarter design of Ribo Fashion Group, the Aishe’er design team expresses the abstract now and future through transformation between open and private spaces, as well as collision and integration of new and old materials.
Staircase structure is the boundary line:
The whole design is expanded from the courtyard stairs, they connect two floors as a vertical channel, which form an origin and amplifies the whole space. Stairs are made of two different materials, namely, old teak floor on one surface and mirror stainless steel on the opposite surface. In this way, two opposing surfaces between the upper and lower floors are formed just like the infinite extension of a Mobius band. The center is appearance, and the appearance is the dialectical philosophy of center. The teak floor is collected from old houses dismantled in Shanghai, which brings the space a sense of local memory. Reflection from the mirror stainless steel not only makes the boundary between stair structure and the space ambiguous, but also eliminates the sense of volume and weights and increase the contemporary feel of the space.
Open and sharing office area
The office area in the first floor is exhibited in a clear and transparent way. Long office desks and open bookshelves are all composed by extremely simple lines, which make the space free and casual. Different from traditional private office area in the past, an open, communicating and mobile office area is the best way to maintain creativity and efficiency.
Contrast between illusion and reality:
The second floor is an independent office community which is designed into a “future” structure through contrast of materials and forms. The public area is centered at stairs and the clean white gallery gives people more space for imagination.
Alternation of materials:
The whole project defines temperament of the space by different materials. Wooden floor, stone, and steel plates are used as the basic material to exhibit the space in the most organic way. They reproduce the pure texture and appearance, which is the best interpretation to “now”. The plain space is added with a sense of “future” by space re-planning, a simple and easy layout, and use of light materials such as glass, mirror stainless steel and white walls.
Indoor and outdoor:
Pure white stairs are added into the original outdoor space, which establish an effective interaction between outdoor and indoor spaces.

EP Restaurant is originally a two-floor white colored modern building. Reconstruction of EP Restaurant focuses on the first floor, while the original functions of the second floor are maintained. The space layout is changed in accordance to number of customers and functional demands. An indoor coffee area on the first floor and an open platform on the second floor are added in the southwest regions of the original building. In the reconstruction design, the overall structure of the original building is protected as much as possible, but the contemporary spirit is enhanced by the added structures. The added structures are steel structures, with transparent glass walls in the south and an integral glass sliding door in the west. The roof thickness is minimized to make the whole building light and transparent.
The wall and window on the south wall of the first floor are changed to an integral transparent glass and partition. The boundary between indoor and outdoor becomes ambiguous when the glass door is opened completely. Flowers, grasses and trees in the outdoor courtyard become part of the indoor space. There’s no obstruction between the natural environment and the building. Instead, progressive spatial levels among indoor, outdoor and natural courtyard are formed.
With respect to selection of materials, harmonious textures and colors are used to make the whole space elegant, comfortable and poetic. A wooden dining-table is matched with gray and wood-colored chairs, a terrazzo floor and a dining area covered with small white square tiles, forming a harmonious and supplementary space. The ceiling lamp above the dining-table has various forms, which enable changes of the rhythm in this space.
Stairs to the second floor are dismantled and redesigned. The new staircases has a stronger sense of contour and it is painted in red, the brightest and most flashing color in the whole space. The new stairs are not closed completely and connect the spaces in both floors. The metallic wine rack is designed in a network of structures, making the space light and transparent.
Chinese western cuisines are both offered in the dining area. Chinese foods area is located at the inner side of the dining area by the entrance for convenient food collection. There’s an open kitchen on the left side of the food collection area, equipped with cooking equipments of both Chinese and western foods. This kitchen has several functions, including small party, birthday party, roasting and food tasting. After the reconstruction, except for Chinese and western foods, the food market by the Café offers fresh organic vegetables and fruits, red wine and organic cereals which meet customers’ demands for healthy foods.
